The Elevator Shaft, FAQ

That depends on what scares you. The Elevator Shaft is not built around traditional jump scares, but it is intense, physical, and highly immersive.

This room takes place inside the cramped, industrial elevator shaft of Edward Tandy’s house. If small spaces, low ceilings, tight passageways, or the feeling of being trapped make you nervous, this may be one of our more challenging experiences.

Whether it’s the “scariest” room depends on the guest, The Elevator Shaft is scary in a different way than our actor-driven rooms at this location, such as The Basement, The Study, and The Courtyard.

Rather than relying on a live performer, this experience uses movement, sound, lighting, special effects, and the environment itself to create tension. Some guests find the physical setting more intimidating than actor interaction because the room feels like it has a mind of its own.

No. The Elevator Shaft does not have a live actor.

That said, the room itself is extremely animated. Between the sound design, effects, movement, and surprises built into the environment, many players say it feels like they are playing with an entity, even though there is no performer inside the room with you.

If you’re looking for rooms with live actors at our Los Angeles location, you may want to try The Basement, The Study, or The Courtyard.

You may get damp during certain parts of the experience. You do not need a change of clothes, but you should wear shoes that you do not mind stepping into shallow puddles with.

We also recommend wearing clothing that you would be comfortable getting slightly dirty, just in case.

Wear comfortable clothing and shoes that you can move around in. Since you may step in puddles and the environment can be a little gritty, we recommend wearing shoes and clothing you do not mind getting slightly wet or dirty.
